From Ardee to Arbour Hill - though not as an inmate! Ex prison librarian, Bernie Mc Adam, is an artist who has recently returned to live in Louth after spending a number of years in London and Dublin. She works in acrylics, oils, watercolour and mixed media and her work explores the nature of change in rural and urban environments and how lives are affected by it.
Bernie tries to capture the energy that emanates from such flux so it is impotant to her that there is a vibrant movement and life reflected in her paintings.
Themes such as environmental issues are also a costant topic but she likes to stimulate this visual dialogue in a humourous way in some work - hence the appearance of bewildered looking sheep and cows in strange poses! She also loves doing portraits, caricatures and cartoons.
Bernie recently fulfilled a commission from Dublin City Council's Corporate Department
for three original paintings and a complete run of limited edition prints. Her work can also be found in collections nationally and in the U.K, Europe and Australia and she accepts commissions. |
